NANS Rejects Court Judgement Mandating ASUU To Call Off

While ASUU has revealed that it will appeal the court judgment mandating lecturers to call off the strike and resume classroom activities, Nigerian students under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), have rejected the court judgment in its entirety.

A statement issued by the association’s National Public Relations Officer, Giwa Temitope, referred to the ruling as a “black market judgment” that betrays equity, as the Federal Government ought not to have sued the academic union in the first place.

It further expressed its disappointment in the federal government’s decision to sue ASUU and the court judgment, saying it  has not resolved the problem.

The association noted that the only remedy to the industrial dispute is for the Federal Government to give in to the demands of ASUU which the government willingly entered, and to properly fund education.

“She also told me she had a fight with Amaka, that’s enough to know her personality. I can’t be with someone I won’t be able to calm down.’

No Political Campaign Until Asuu Strike Is Called Off – NANS

Barely a few hours before an industrial court ordered ASUU to suspend its ongoing strike and resume classroom activities while negotiations continue, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) declared that no political party will be allowed to hold its political campaign in the country until ASUU strike is resolved.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the NANS National Taskforce, Ojo Olumide, on Wednesday, September 21.

Olumide stated that the current administration has pushed students into depression and they’ve had enough.

He said;

“Our blocking of access to public roads and ports is just a warning. If the government fails to conclude all the negotiation and agreement with ASUU within the frame of two weeks, they will witness more protests and rallies all over the country, they will also witness the annoyance, anger and frustration of Nigerians Students who have been at home for the past seven months.

“As we promise them that we will not allow any political campaign to hold across the country until we are back to class. This government has pushed so many Nigerians students into depression. We say enough is enough; we can no longer bear the brunt from this avoidable crisis in our nation public ivory towers again.”

RCCG Pastor Officiates at Queen Elizabeth’s Burial

One Pastor Agu Irukwu who was among the officiating ministers at the funeral of Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, is presently trending online for being the only black pastor to officiate at the queen’s burial which took place Monday, September 19.

Pastor Irukwu, a former Chairman of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the United Kingdom, who still maintains his pastoral role in the RCCG as the Senior Pastor of Jesus House, United Kingdom, is one of the eight pastors representing the churches of England at the event.

Irukwu stepped down as the chairman of UK RCCG in April 2021. He also ceased from being the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Executive Council of the RCCG in the UK and the Deputy Continental Overseer of the church in Europe.

He told the RCCG that the decision to step down from the position was personal. He however said he would maintain his pastoral role at the Jesus House as the Senior Pastor.

His being an officiating pastor at the Queen’s burial is not unexpected.

The website of the church informed that Irukwu was conferred with the inaugural Alphege Award for Evangelism and Witness by the Archbishop of Canterbury the Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby at Lambeth Palace in 2016.

The award was after St. Alphege the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1006 to 1012. The Archbishop was reputed for his simplicity, wise and holy counsel, as well as care for the poor.

Pastor Irukwu was also elected Churches Together in England (CTE) Pentecostal President in 2017, making him one of six CTE Presidents.

A graduate of the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK, Pastor Irukwu was a former Investment Banker prior to his decision to go into full-time Christian ministry.

In his various roles in the RCCG mission, Irukwu is said to have been committed to the promotion of good governance for the church.

He is described as a “very practical and down-to-earth preacher, his ministry is characterized by a desire to see revival in the UK and help build men and women of faith who will achieve their God-given purposes in life.”

Irukwu is the son of Prof Joe Irukwu, a foremost insurance expert. He is married to Pastor Shola Irukwu.

See The Reaction Of Ooni Of Ife’s Estranged Wife, Queen Naomi To His Fourth Marriage

Estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Queen Naomi Silekunola has somewhat reacted to the reports of his new marriage.

The former queen who announced her divorce from the monarch in December, 2021, is still yet to drop the royal surname.

A look at her Instagram page still boasts of her former title, “Official page of Her Majesty Queen Naomi Silekunola O.” The mother of two still retains her royal name, Queen Silekunola Ogunwusi.

Following the news of his new marriage, the estranged queen has now pulled down her post announcing the divorce.

Till few days ago, the break up post was still up on her Instagram page.

According to Palace sources who spoke exclusively to Kemi Ashefon, Queen Naomi has been trying to get back with the Ooni.

The sources claimed that the Olori had been begging people to appease the king on her behalf.

But when she realized that the monarch had made up his mind to tie the knot with Olori Mariam, she took down the post.
