How To Control Your Anger

0

Angry-Black-Woman

Anger may be used for a constructive purpose but when anger becomes uncontrollable or unexpressed, it may lead to destructive thoughts or actions.

According to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Department of Behavioral medicine, Lagos State College of Medicine/ Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, (LASUCOM/LASUTH), Ikeja, said, one gets angry for several reasons; which include: person’s feeling of self worth, self image, feelings of superiority, feelings of competence.

Other reasons are frustration, unjust treatment, lack of a sense of acknowledgement from important people.

However, the common thread that links all of the above can be conceptualized as being emotionally identified with the scenario in question.

Dr Zechariah said, “in general therefore, it is this process of identification that needs to be addressed in considering how to manage one’s feelings of anger, especially if it tends to get out of hand or uncontrollable. The key to managing one’s anger is thus what can be termed ‘ the practice of non-attachment’ to the scenario, person, or event that is triggering the feeling of anger.

“The more one is identified, the more one loses the ability to maintain a detached and objective perspective. He or she finds himself or herself carried along with the emotion. Very often, the ‘flow’ of anger can gain such a momentum that the person may find it very difficult to control the emotion, leading to frequent and unfortunate altercations with perceived detractors, and sometimes negative consequences for the person in terms of relationships and job situations.”

Techniques of achieving ‘detachment’ or giving oneself ‘a gap of time’ before reacting to anger. During this ‘gap’, one can ask oneself some questions along the following possible lines:

••Is it really worth it to expend negative emotional energy on this issue?

••Is the issue that significant or important?

One can also engage in self talk during this gap along the following general lines:

••If I blow up, it is going to cause me more harm than good. There are more important issues in my life.

••Let me let go of this issue and be free of the burden of negative emotions which may affect my health. There is nothing to gain from ‘blowing up’.

••Physically leave the scene quickly and become engaged in some other activity away from the scenario.

••Deep breathing and other relaxation techniques.

••Finally, if one finds it extremely difficult to control his / her anger, on can get in touch with a psychologist.

“He did not win anything” – Ribery insists Ronaldo did not deserve Ballon d’Or

0

Ribery-at-Ballon-dOr-2013-300x194

Franck Ribery has criticized the decision to crown Cristiano Ronaldo, the winner of the 2013 Ballon d’Or and feels the Real Madrid forward did not do as much as he did, in the year under review.

The Bayern Munich attacker, finished third behind Ronaldo and Messi, but feels he should have won the award ahead of the two players.

“I won everything I could win with Bayern and individually. Ronaldo on the other hand did not win anything,” Ribery told AZ.

“I am not sad that I missed out, but it does hurt a bit. I deserved to win the Ballon d’Or.

“It was clear that Ronaldo would win it. The voting deadline was extended by two weeks. This had never happened before. It wasn’t about football. It was a political decision.”

Ribery also slammed the selection of playerss in the FifPro World XI, wherejust three Bayern players made the cut against four Barcelona players.

“There are only three Bayern players in there. That’s madness. [Thomas] Muller deserves to be there, and so do [David] Alaba, [Bastian] Schweinsteiger and [Arjen] Robben. We won five titles and made history.

“And then there’s the absence of Borussia Dortmund players… Where are [Mario] Gotze and [Robert] Lewandowski? This is impossible.”

4 Gentle Ways To Gain Confidence To Tell Your Hidden Secret

0

Your closet is filled with skeletons, some of which are much more terrifying to face than others. You know it’s time to rid the hiding place of its decaying bones, but how? Here are four gentle ways to begin cleaning out the closet for good.

It’s the only thing you see when you look in the mirror. You no longer notice the color of your eyes or the way you smile — just the secret hiding behind the stranger staring back at you. You’re desperate to be free from the past that continues to haunt your present, but at this point you’re not even sure if freedom is an option. There’s very little left of your original identity, and while you know talking to someone will help, you just can’t bring yourself to actually go through with it. The pain is too real and too much.

You know how to survive each day wearing the mask that hides your secret and to take it off would leave you exposed and vulnerable. Here, however, are four gentle steps to help you peel away the layers of shame and guilt and replace them with confidence and empowerment.

1. Journal. One of the best places to begin the healing process and start to gain the confidence to free yourself from your pain is in your journal. It’s there you can tell every deep, dark secret without the fear of anyone ever finding out. Moving the pain from your mind to your paper helps clear away all of the lies the secret has been telling you. It also frees you from living in the past and opens up the present moment where you were created to live.

2. Feel. Another phase of healing and gaining confidence is giving yourself permission to feel every emotion that shows up as you go through the process. Removing the words “should” and “shouldn’t” from your vocabulary allows you to experience what you’re feeling to the fullest. You’ll be honoring your essence, extracting the truth of your identity, overwriting an outdated operating system and creating a space for a reignited passion for life.

“What if” will more than likely wedge its way into your thoughts, but the negativity these words conjure up also needs to be eliminated from vocabulary. Instead of following the path of these words back into the darkness of secrecy, use them to your advantage. “What if” by telling your secret you learn to live again? “What if” people already know you’ve been silently dying and they love you anyway? “What if” when you finally free yourself from your past and love the real you your family will be able to love you unconditionally as well? “What if” your life actually will be better than you could ever imagine once you let the proverbial cat out of the bag?

Remember, too, as you continue the process, to keep journaling in order to keep your mind from getting clouded with negativity.

3. Forgive. Regardless of whether your secret is an addiction, an affair or a little white lie you told in the third grade, you’re not the same person now as you were then, and it’s time to forgive yourself. You were simply doing the best you knew how to do at the time. Take the lesson you’ve learned from whatever happened and use it as a strength and a life skill to help others.

If it’s a pain which wasn’t yours to carry in the first place — a wrong committed by someone else and the pain is still too much to bear — spend some time journaling about life from that person’s perspective. While I would never advocate forgiving the action, forgiving the person (including yourself) is the only way to move into the present and find the confidence to heal your life.

4. Reveal. Once you’re at the place where your past has been reconciled with your present and you feel strong enough to finally speak to someone other than the person in the mirror, choose someone you know who will have only your best interests at heart. This person needs to be someone who sees you through the eyes of God, who won’t try to “one-up” you by saying, “Oh, please. You think that’s bad. What till I tell you what I did!” Choose someone who can be in the pain with you until it no longer hurts.

Surround yourself only with people who support and love you and will walk through the fire with you until you no longer have any association with your secret. Replace the parts of your mind that were convoluted with thoughts of your secret with scriptures and reminders that because of grace you are loved unconditionally, forgiven forever and cherished beyond imagination.

5 Reasons You Should Have s*x With Your Husband Every Day

0

09b1-300x200
Here are 5 reasons to have more s*x with your husband

1. Being a mother, one of the ultimate expressions of womanhood, can often leave a girl feeling stri*ped of her femininity. There is something about being covered in spit up and attending to the every need of another human being that makes one feel distinctly gender neutral. Most of my days are spent playing with dolls, wiping baby food off of my clothes, changing diapers, wiping snot off of my clothes, going to the park, and wiping what-the-heavens-is-that off of my clothes. There is something restorative about kissing the boy you love. There are times in Riley’s arms when I remember who I am before I even realize I have forgotten. Yes, I am a cook, cleaner, teacher, and wiper of all things disgusting. But I am also something more, something delightful and completely apart from my roles. I am a woman! And there is potential and depth and heck, I am pretty darn good kisser, too. It is a lovely thing, finding yourself through the touch of someone else.

2. If you want your husband to act like a man, you need to treat him like a man. Hold the eye rolls. I am not pushing for a return to the 1950′s. (Although, heaven knows an era in which low rise jeans did not exist is basically alright by me.) Women need any number of criteria met to feel loved. Men are far simpler. They need to be fed, they need to be appreciated, and they need to have s*x. That is it. Really. So make or order dinner once in a while. Say thank you for the long hours spent at work with a hug and smile when he walks through the door each night. (Better yet? Smile as you hand him the kids and walk out the door for a long, much needed break.) And my goodness, let the poor man see you unclad. It is astounding what a good man will do for a good woman that has made him feel loved. After a few weeks of meals and make outs, you will sit back and wonder why you didn’t insist on having s*x every night sooner. Talk about a small investment and big returns.

3. You need to have a moment in each day that is just about the two of you. Remember that boy? The one that made your heart thump and hands sweat? The one that called when you hoped he would, that made you run hot and high up to the stars until you thought you would never come down? He is still there. Under the years and bills and worries, that smiling boy is still in love with and needs his smiling girl. Every night after the kids go to bed is a chance to find him again. A moment to remind yourself that you are living a picket fenced adventure and my goodness, there is nothing the two of you can’t do.

4. s*x relieves stress. I don’t know that this one needs much explanation. As a mother I eat stress for breakfast. So it seems to me I have a choice. I can let off steam by A) driving around at night and bashing in strangers mailboxes or B) I can get down and dirty with that one guy I married that one time. I choose option B. (So far the mailboxes in my neighborhood have escaped unscathed, so Option B must be working.)

5. It is so much blasted fun. Seriously. Why are we so quick to refuse the good things in life? We will slog through our children’s Algebra homework, do Zumba in public and pluck the hair from our body ONE PIECE AT A TIME. But tell a girl to have s*x every night and she looks at you like you are crazy, An climax? Every night? What do I look like? A Nymphomaniacal Super Woman?

Where is the logic in that?

Are we really too busy doing dishes to participate in an activity that is so good it has inspired genius (that saucy Shakespeare) and changed history (Okay, Helen of Troy, we get it. You were super hot)? My goodness, what a crazy way to live. Ladies, did it ever occur to you (to us!) that we should have s*x because WE DESERVE IT?

Yeah, you deserve it.

So, tonight put the kids to bed. Leave the dishes in the sink and the floors unswept. They will wait. Take a moment to remember that you are the girl you hoped you would be and then go find that boy and remind him that he is the man you knew he could be.

Rinse. Repeat.

Quote
“I am maniacally bewildered, overgassted and flabberwhelmed at the paraplegic crinkum crankum that characterised the Glo CAF awards culminating in an od oriferous saga cum gargantuan gaga! The jiggery pokery of CAF in crowning Yaya Toure instead of our very own prodigy John Obi Mikel is a veritable bugaboo that must be pooh-poohed by all compos mentis homo sapiens! The perfidy and Mendacity of all the apparatchic of sports suzerainty is not only repugnant but also insalubrious!

I said to my self: What an anathematous disdain of the citizenry! What a deprecable descent from the sublime to the ridiculous! Who will curb the odoriferous excesses of this machavellian and mephistophelean cabal in the Confederation? With this state of affairs, i dare say that African football is swimming in a pestilential aqua with a disastrious terminus ad quem inherently laden with avoidable cataracts, ice bergs and oxbow Lakes. It is sardonic and lugubrious!!!”

UNIVERSITY GRADUATE COMMITS SUICIDE OVER GIRLFRIEND’S PARENT’S REFUSAL OF MARRIAGE PROPOSA

0

A graduate of Architecture from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, identified as Ogunsona Daniel Adebambo, has committed suicide in Ikorodu area of Lagos state, because the father of his girlfriend refused to approve his marriage proposal.

Adebambo was said to have hung himself in an uncompleted storey building, after all efforts to get the consent of his lady’s family failed to yield the expected result.

According to Leadership Newspaper, the body of Adebambo who was deployed to Abia State for his National Youth Service Corps’ orientation, was found dangling from a rope tied to the hook of a fan in an uncompleted storey building at No. 1, Alice Ogunsona Street, Hilltop Estate, Eruwen, Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

The 30-year-old, who was said to have held a lot of promise, was found by his younger brother, after reading the suicide note he left in their sitting room before embarking on the suicide mission.

In the letter, the late Adebambo allegedly blamed his action on his girlfriend’s father who refused to allow him marry his daughter.

Friends of the deceased confirmed that he took his own life, because his fiancée’s father, a native of Ondo State, said his daughter cannot marry, because he (Adebambo) is an Ijebu, from Ogun State.

Although many who gathered at his residence found his excuse difficult to believe, his fiancée, who was seen weeping uncontrollably, could not be comforted or talked to.

A resident of the Hilltop Estate, Ibrahim Adeola, said, “When the family raised the alarm and we rushed here, he was already foaming in the mouth and his hand was clenched. This signified that he struggled till he died”.

Police officers seen within the premises said complaints of the tragic incidence have been lodged at the Ikorodu Police Station, and promised to carry out their investigations.

How Tecno Stole The Show From Nokia And Blackberry

0

Tecno Mobile Nigeria is one of the leading mobile brand in nigeria and also africa. Tecno is well known for selling android powered phones at cheap rate and is already a household name in nigeria. Although some weeks ago i critized tecno and said Tecno Phones Are Of Low Quality , The truth is that nigerians still love tecno and tecno is waxing strong everyday.

How It All Started

Tecno began the smartphone war in nigeria with the launch of Tecno N3 In november 2012. Tecno’s first android phone , tecno N3 didnt feature some awesome specs. Looking at the specs alone you’ld know that at that time , tecno still had a lot of work to do on their phones. Tecno n3 featured a poor 3.5’inch display with just 256,000 colours , a poor 800Hz single core processor and a TERRIBLE 256RAM. Worst of all it had a 1400mAh Battery capacity and ran on android 2.3.5 gingerbread version. Funny enough tecno n3 managed to make huge sales in nigeria , which cost about #10,000 at that time.

The Year 2013 In Review

The year 2013 was no doubt the most successful year in tecno’s history. Tecno androids really rocked 2013 and was able to win the hearts of thousands on nigerians.

image

Tecno kicked off the year 2013 with the release of Tecno N7, an improved version of tecno n3. Tecno really uped their game with the release of tecno n7. Tecno n7 featured an impressive 4.0′ inch display , internal memory of 4GB , ram of 512MB and an impressive dual core processor of frequency 1.0 GHz CPU , all of which ran on android 4.0 ice cream version. Tecno n7 really outshined tecno n3 and made thousands of sale within a short time.

Next up was tecno b3. Tecno b3 was more like tecno n3 in the same size. B3 also features 3.5inches screen , just like the n3. B3 ran on android 2.3.5 gingerbread version and also featured a 512MB Ram.

Ever since then , tecno slowly but steadily grew its popularity in nigeria and also its fan base too. As at august 2013 , tecno mobile’s facebook fanpage clocked 100,000 Fans which showed that its strenght in nigeria was growing by the day. I could also recall that tecno organised a ‘Smart’ Contest in september 2013. The smart contest was organised to discover the smartest tecno user in nigeria. This strategy actually worked as many nigerians participated in the contest and tecno also increased in popularity. The winner of the contest got home with a whooping #100, 00 in cash from tecno.

Tecno also released its first tablet in 2013. Tecno phantom pad was released in july 2013 and it was the first tablet ever released by tecno. Featuring an 8inch display , a 1GM ram , 1.2Ghz dual core processor and ran on android 4.2.1 jelly bean version , tecno phantom pad touted itself as one of tecno’s powerful machines in 2013.

But tecno’s best android device in 2013 was the Tecno Phantom Aplus. It can hardly be argued that tecno phantom a plus was the best tecno device in 2013 and argueable the best selling device in 2013. Phantom a was released with the tagline ‘#Innovation To Succeed For You And For Everyone’. Phantom a plus sports a 5inch display with 16million colours , 2100mAh battery capacity , 1.2 GHz dual-core Mediatek MT6577H CPU , 1GB ram and also runs on android 4.2jellybean version which has been confirmed that it will be able to use BBM. Phantom a was ranked no 7 in my list of 10 Smartphones That Rocked 2013. That wasnt all from tecno , other flagship phones were released. This includes Tecno P5 , Tecno m3 , Tecno L3 , Tecno D1 , Tecno Q1 , Tecno D7 , Tecno M5, Tecno M7 And A Few More Others. Even in late 2013 , Tecno Released Phantom A3 and also Tecno Released Tecno P9, Tecno D9 And Tecno S5 all at the same time.

What To Expect In 2014

We’re expecting tecno to up their game and give nigerians more. In the year 2014 we’re expecting tecno phones with

•Gorilla Glass Display

•Water And Dust Proof

•Other Cool And Unique Features. And Most Importantly ,

•Phones With OTA Upgrade.

11 Reasons You Should Quit Facebook In 2014

0

“Facebook is so annoying.” How many times have you heard that sentiment this past year? We bet a lot, because more and more people seem to be getting tired of the social media platform, especially young people.

We’ve noticed a nationwide annoyance with Facebook over 2013. The company even admitted in October that younger teens were using the network less frequently on a daily basis. Here are 11 reasons that might convince you to let your Facebook account go in 2014.

1. Nobody actually wants to just read about what you’re doing anymore.

Think about it: What sounds more appealing (and believable)? Reading a status that says, “I’m currently hanging out with Will Smith!” or a picture of that person actually posing with Smith? A photo is definitely more engaging. Here’s the most-liked Instagram picture of 2013: Justin Bieber’s snap with Smith.

When TIME interviewed teenagers about their social media use in March, 16-year-old Hamp Briley explained that kids these days don’t have time for Facebook: “Twitter’s all statuses, Instagram’s all pictures. People like to do more specific things like that instead of being on just Facebook.”
2. Facebook makes it impossible for you to stay “private.”

For many valid reasons (think stalker exes or potential employers), some people don’t like having their name come up when it’s typed into the Facebook search bar. However, most users this year found problems with changes to privacy settings. For one, Facebook removed the option to keep your name hidden when people search you. They also forced people to control their privacy settings on a cumbersome item-by-item basis. Today, the only way to make sure certain people can’t access your profile is to block them. Or alter your name so it doesn’t appear when people search your real one. Or, of course, quit Facebook entirely.
3. Your parents (and even grandparents) are now watching your every move.

This year seemed to be the year everyone’s mom, dad, grandmother and great aunt got hooked on Facebook. And that meant every time you posted a status about something innocuous, these Facebook novices started breathing down your neck the minute you hit “post.” We get enough scolding from our parents “IRL” — no need to let it trickle onto a social media site where our friends can laugh at our familial bickering.
4. Or they’re posting photos of you that you would never want anyone to see

What’s worse than getting no “likes” on an Instagram photo you posted? Checking your Facebook and realizing that a horribly embarrassing photo of you that your mom posted is getting over 50 “likes,” along with some pretty serious mockery in the comments section.
5. Facebook is even keeping track of what you don’t say.

You may have been happy you didn’t post that one over-share about your extended trip to the bathroom the other day, but Facebook may have a record of exactly what you typed and what time you were about to publish it. This month, Facebook released a study revealing that they were undergoing a new type of data collection in which they were tracking when people typed content out and then removed it without publishing. Their mission is to understand why users “self-censor” themselves in updates. According to Facebook data scientist Sauvik Das, a “self-censored update” is “an entry into either [a status update or comment box] of more than five characters that was typed out but not submitted for at least the next 10 minutes.”
6. Facebook makes you feel less positive about your life.

Even though the purpose of Facebook is effectively to reveal details about everything and anything you do, access to this knowledge could take a toll on your mental well-being. A recent study done by the Department of Behavioral Science at the Utah Valley University discovered that heavy Facebook users aren’t the happiest people out there. The researchers found that just using Facebook makes you view your life more negatively. Of 400 students questioned, “those who have used Facebook longer agreed more that others were happier, and agreed less that life is fair, and those spending more time on Facebook each week agreed more that others were happier and had better lives.”
7. The “friend suggestions” tell you to befriend people you don’t even know.

Facebook’s “friend suggestions” algorithm needs some work, because these days we’re discovering that your potential “friends” are people we only know through someone else, or someone we haven’t even met at all. If you want people to stop using a platform that is supposed to connect them and bring them together with the people they care about, you should definitely adopt Facebook’s strategy of trying to get you to care about the lives of complete strangers.
8. You realize you only know and care about only 20 people out of your 1,000 friends.

It starts to get kind of weird when you check the birthdays for the day and don’t remember who any of the five people are. How do you know them? Are they some random person you met at a bar in college one night, and in a drunken stupor decided to “add on Facebook”? Probably. Do you need to know that this person is moving to California this week? More importantly, do you care? Nope. It could be time to overhaul your friends list. Or maybe it’s time to realize that your Facebook account is being used pretty much entirely to keep tabs on these kinds of strangers.
9. Your friends keep announcing their engagements.

There’s nothing more obnoxious than being a busy twentysomething and starting to see all of your friends post statuses about getting engaged. While you are happy for them and wish them the best in their prospects for a lasting marriage, the bombardment of status updates is starting to make you feel like something is wrong with your love life. Why aren’t you getting married? What is wrong with you? Why the hell do you need to be thinking about marriage right now?! Once that anxiety subsides, you realize you have to endure continued updates on their wedding preparation. You could unsubscribe to this friend, but you know more are coming.
10. The excessive ads are about to ruin the whole experience.

If the regular sponsored ads hadn’t already destroyed Facebook for you — seriously, why the hell do you think you’re obsessed with guitars and horses — the upcoming launch of video ads will definitely do the trick. Facebook started testing these annoying ads out in December. They’ll soon be coming to a newsfeed near you, automatically playing a video as you scroll through. However, the sound will only play if you click or tap on it. The good news? There is a way to block these ads from automatically playing. You just have to use a Flash blocker.
11. It makes getting over a breakup really hard.

Back in the days before social media, people broke up and never called the person again. It was relatively simple to move on (providing you weren’t forced to physically see the person on a day-to-day basis). But today, being able to have constant access to your ex’s timeline can easily cause serious obsessive tendencies and behavior. Samuel Axon at Mashable accurately summed up how Facebook makes breakups harder, because the platform makes your change in relationship status public and it allows you to see all the action your ex is getting.

Open Letter To Skales

Dear Skales Let me start by wishing you a happy and prosperous new year… Mr Raoul, I would like to admit to the FACT that you are a very talented and Hardworking artist like it’s not really easy switching between singing and Rapping at the same time(should be the main reason BankyW signed you some years ago). There are some things I’ve noticed about your music Career since you Started with EME, some years ago when you released your first pre-EME Single(Heading for a Grammy) I just knew that you were headed to the TOP cause I felt the Heat(HIT) from the song. At that time People started looking forward to you like you are the next thing to storm the Nigerian music scene. BankyW. Signed You and Wiz up, I can remember Him bringing the two of you up on stage at a show announcing the you both as His Retirement plan, but Let me be sincere since then it has been all about Wiz. I am not sure maybe it’s the Destiny/Star Factor OR the exposure wizkid got when He was still upcoming recording with the likes of OJB, soundsultan e.t.c then that made him a STRONGER FORCE than you in the music scene. I understand that you were still in school which is much needed(thank God you graduated successfully last year) maybe that was what held your music career back a little bit.. When you released your First single(Mukulu) with EME I was like Ok so this guy can sing too an album from him would not be bad. You also gained little Popularity and so on. 2013 was not too bad for your career, your impact was really good on the EME compilation album (this is me forgetting the fame and musical influence wizkid and BankyW got on the album). Your verses on Baddest Boy, Sunmomi, Get down tonight and so on was on point. You released two singles in 2013 Take Care Of me and Denge Pose(of which denge pose was really slept on) which were AMAZING, the first time I heard Take care of me was on BEAT FM and I was like is this Skales? I mean An average Nigerian artist/musician can’t write a song like that. Now To the main matter, Mister Skales I would like you to Pull a wizkid on Your LABEL BOSSES. 2014 Is YOUR TAKEOVER YEAR, Release an album in the first quarter of this year (don’t care if Wiz’s second album is not yet out) Go for it in the first quarter of this Year or you lose your CHANCE of taking over/Blowing full time. At least the singles Wizkid released last year are enough (No hating to wiz).. I am tired of seeing tweets about you not blowing yet. Before I stop, Mr. Skales Please change Your stylist(if you have one) and your mode of dressing, you can At least Contact Ice-Prince for His Stylist. THANK YOU…YOU ARE A STAR, SHINE BRIGHT!!!! From:- An Observer.

Man United fall as Arsenal cling to top spot

Tottenham Hotspur hammered another nail into Manchester United’s creaking Premier League title defence with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day.

Having won their previous six games in all competitions, United were hoping to match wins by their fellow title rivals, but instead they slumped to a sixth defeat of the season that left them 11 points off the pace.

Tottenham, unbeaten in the league under new manager Tim Sherwood, took a 34th-minute lead when Emmanuel Adebayor outjumped Chris Smalling to head home Christian Eriksen’s right-wing centre.

Eriksen added a second in the 66th minute, smuggling a header past David de Gea from Aaron Lennon’s cross.

Danny Welbeck reduced the arrears immediately from Adnan Januzaj’s incisive pass, but Spurs withstood United’s late onslaught, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris saving from Javier Hernandez, Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic.

Victory took Spurs above United into sixth place, two points outside the top four, with the defending champions three points further back in seventh.

Earlier, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott scored last-gasp goals as Arsenal edged Cardiff City 2-0 to preserve their place at the top of the table.

With former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in attendance, amid reports he is due to succeed the sacked Malky Mackay as Cardiff manager, Arsenal had to wait until the 88th minute for Bendtner to break the deadlock.

Walcott added a second goal in injury time to rubber-stamp Arsenal’s return to first place, after Manchester City had taken temporary possession of top spot by winning 3-2 at Swansea City.

“We needed to be patient against a very good Cardiff side,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

“We know we have to play 10 home games and we want to make this place a fortress and take the points no matter what the others do. If we can manage to do that, we will be in a very strong position.”

At a rain-soaked Liberty Stadium, Fernandinho’s 14th-minute opener for City was cancelled out by Wilfried Bony, but further goals from Yaya Toure and Aleksandar Kolarov gave the visitors victory before Bony struck again in injury time.

“It was a very good result because Swansea are a strong team here at home and also away,” City manager Manuel Pellegrini told Sky Sports. “I think the way we won today is very important for us.”

City finished the day a point behind Arsenal in second place, with Chelsea a point further back in third after a 3-0 success at Southampton.

Fernando Torres gave Chelsea the lead on the hour with a close-range header after a deflected cross from Oscar came back off the post, with Willian making it 2-0 11 minutes later from Oscar’s pass.

Oscar, a second-half substitute, crowned an impressive individual performance by adding a third goal eight minutes from time.

Liverpool responded to consecutive losses at the hands of City and Chelsea by winning 2-0 at home to Hull City, a result which took them back into the top four.

Daniel Agger broke the deadlock with a 36th-minute header, with Luis Suarez netting his 20th goal of the campaign with a fine free-kick early in the second half.

Everton slipped out of the top four despite Leighton Baines scoring an injury-time penalty to earn Roberto Martinez’s side a 1-1 draw at Stoke City, who had taken a 49th-minute lead through Oussama Assaidi.

Nicolas Anelka started for West Bromwich Albion against Newcastle United, despite being under investigation by the Football Association over an allegedly anti-Semitic goal celebration.

The Frenchman played for 88 minutes in West Brom’s 1-0 win, which saw Saido Berahino net the winning goal from the penalty spot with three minutes remaining.

Newcastle defender Mathieu Debuchy had earlier been sent off for an ugly foul on Claudio Yacob.

Fulham escaped from the drop zone after coming from behind to win 2-1 at home to fellow relegation contenders West Ham United, who remain second from bottom.

Mohamed Diame gave West Ham a seventh-minute lead, but Steve Sidwell equalised with a header and, after visiting captain Kevin Nolan was sent off for kicking out at Fernando Amorebieta, Dimitar Berbatov tapped in a 66th-minute winner.

Sunderland remain bottom of the table after Gabriel Agbonlahor’s 15th-minute goal earned Aston Villa a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light, while third-bottom Crystal Palace were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich City.

'I just think about Milan' - Zapata rules out Manchester United switch

Recent speculation has linked the Colombia international to Old Trafford, with Phil Neville reportedly sent to assess the versatile defender, but he has dismissed talk of an exit AC Milan defender Cristian Zapata has dismissed talk of a January move to Manchester United, insisting he has no intention of leaving San Siro.

Reports in the English media suggested on Sunday that the
Premier League champions had recently sent coach Phil Neville to watch the 27-year-old in action with boss David Moyes keen to bolster his ranks.

However, the Colombia international – who can play at both centre-back and full-back, has played down the speculation.

When asked about a link with United, Zapata told reporters:
“No, I do not know anything. I just think about Milan. I have a contract until 2016 and I want to stay here.”

Zapata was speaking after Milan drew 2-2 at home to Roma on
Monday night, a result which leaves them 10th in the table.

Ribery: Club World Cup will cap perfect year

The winger says being crowned Club World Cup champions will be the ideal end to a “fantastic year” for Bayern Munich, proving they are the best Franck Ribery is targeting one more piece of silverware before the curtain comes down on a glorious 2013 for player and club.

Bayern Munich begin their Club World Cup campaign against Guangzhou Evergrande on Tuesday, hoping to add that title to the Bundesliga, Champions League, DFB Pokal and Uefa Super Cup trophies they have already won over the past 12 months.

Ribery is himself in the running to be named World Player of the Year after being named on Fifa’s three-man Ballon d’Or shortlist, but insists his priority is securing more silverware for the Bavarians.

“The team have had a lot of important matches this year and are a little tired, but we will focus all of our efforts on winning the Club World Cup. That will be the perfect end to a perfect year.” the 30-year-old told Bundesliga.com

“We want to show that we are not just the best side in Europe, but also in the rest of the world.

“To prove we are the best we need to win these matches and we are completely focused on making a fantastic year even better.”

Ribery also fired an ominous warning by declaring that the Bavarians are an even better side with Pep Guardiola in charge than they were under treble-winning coach Jupp Heynckes.

“If you think back to how well we played against Manchester City, you can see Pep is a brilliant coach,” he continued.

“The way we moved the ball that night was perfect. Pep is tactically very clever, he’s very close to us, he talks to us and gives us a lot of confidence – since he’s come we’ve definitely progressed.”

Pep Guardiola: Arsenal the toughest draw

Guardiola: Arsenal 'the most difficult team' Bayern could face

The former Barcelona boss believes die Roten were handed the worst possible draw, while he is also keen to continue the Bavarians’ silverware haul with Club World Cup glory
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says Arsenal are the hardest side the Champions League holders could have faced in the last 16.

The two sides were pitted against each in Monday’s draw in a re-match of their encounter last season – a game which saw the Gunners become the first side to win at the Allianz Arena in 2013, though they ultimately exited the tournament.

Arsene Wenger’s charges are currently top of the Premier League table, and Guardiola has praised a side that he believes will pose a stern test to die Roten’s hopes of retaining their crown.

“I know Arsene Wenger quite well, I know his players quite well,” the Spaniard told reporters. “In the draw, it was the most
difficult team.”

The Bavarians are currently in Morocco for the Club World Cup,
a competition Guardiola has won twice before with Barcelona and is keen to triumph in again.

“This tournament is very important, very prestigious. It’s not easy to qualify for it, nor to win it,” he continued ahead of his side’s semi-final clash with Guangzhou Evergrande.

“There are only two matches, the semi-final and the final, and simply put, we have to win them.

“You don’t have the good fortune to take part in this competition very often in your life as a professional footballer and I’d like to express my gratitude to the team and Juup Heynckes because thanks to them I am here today.”

Moyes won’t let Sir Alex interfere

Saha: Moyes won't let Sir Alex interfere at Manchester United

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha insists David Moyes will not let predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson
interfere at Old Trafford.

The legendary manager retired during the summer but fulfils the role of executive director at the club, and has watched from the stands as United have made an underwhelming start to life under Moyes.

Despite leaving the club six months ago, former Red Devils skipper Roy Keane suggested Ferguson was still intent on wielding “control and power” behind the scenes.

But Saha has rejected notions that Ferguson would seek to undermine his successor and says he will give Moyes room to breathe, while also insisting that the ex-Everton boss would not allow himself to be dictated to.

“Roy Keane has huge respect for Manchester United, but he always has had the quality of speaking his mind,” the Frenchman told ITV.

“I don’t think if something has been done by Sir Alex Ferguson it’s to disrupt anything, it’s to give help and advice.

“Controlling everything, I don’t think David Moyes would accept that.

“He likes to do things his own way, and that’s for sure that he will listen to advice but I don’t think he will let anyone else control what happens at the club.”

Saha believes the pair can form a strong working relationship, though, and is convinced Moyes can adapt his style to get more goals out of the United side.

“It is a strength having both of them there,” he continued. “One has freshness and the other has massive experience.

“Manchester United has a big, big image for English football. But I really think those two can work well together.

“David Moyes was at a club before with a very tough, defensive image. Now he needs to go forward and score more goals; that’s something you have to put into your tactics in a way, but I think he can do it.”
