Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, spoke at the inauguration of the Migrant E-Registration and Data Processing Centres at NIS Headquarters in Abuja.

He said that the platform will assist the Federal government in tackling cases of insecurity, as well as provide relevant data for national development, and migrants can register to avoid having challenges with immigration laws after the 90-day amnesty period.

“Today’s event reflects Governments deliberate commitments to harnessing accurate data of its citizens and statistics of migrants, especially those who wish to stay beyond 90 days within the shores of Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the Comptroller General Of the NIS, Muhammad Baban Deidei, migrants can start with the process online free of charge.

“This data is very significant to national development, statistical analysis and also for national security.

“The e-registration can be started online first, migrants are free to start, when they complete registration, they have to come and be captured biometrically and their photographs.”

The Immigration boss warned all officers to desist from asking for fee to process the registration of migrants.

“This registration is free, I hereby warn all immigration officers not to charge any fee from migrants under any disguise.”
