Following the present economic hardship confronting the country, vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari feels the cries of Nigerians.
He said that the current state of the economy was as result of unrestrained abuse of the nation’s wealth by past administrations.
Osinbajo said this during a conference organised by the South-West wing of the All Progressives Congress in Ibadan,
The Vice President, who was represented by Senator Babafemi Ojudu at the occasion, said that: “When we took over the reins of governance, we knew that things were bad. What we did not realise, however, was just how bad they really were. Now we know better. The current pains and sufferings that our people are feeling today are the results of yesterday’s mismanagement of the commonwealth of our great country.
“President Buhari is only too aware of the economic hardship that our people are facing. He feels the pains that you feel, and he has asked me to reassure you that a glorious dawn awaits you. As you all may well know, the darkest part of the night is the period before dawn. Nigeria’s dawn is about to break. We are determined to turn things around, so that, once more, our people will begin to feel real impact of government in their lives.”
The highlight of the APC South-West Conference was the consensus agreement that the geopolitical zone must be more involved in the running of government at the federal level.
