The Nigerian Senate has approved the
nomination of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The approval happened on Thursday, after the Senate emerged from a closed session.
However, it was reported that PDP senators walked out of the chamber in protest to the confirmation of Amaechi.
Senator Anyanwu stated that due to the report of the committee, the Senate has no right to recommend confirmation of Amaechi. He also added that Amaechi’s
confirmation was a moral blunder. That was shortly followed by shouts of protest by APC senators that drowned
out his complaints.
Shortly after, Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Godswill Akpabio, walked out of the chamber in protest.
