Kerry Washington has announced some exciting news – her Broadway play American Son will be filmed for Netflix!
The Emmy-nominated actress currently is starring in the new play from playwright Christopher Demos-Brown and the run ends on January 27.
Instead of taping a live performance, Netflix will taping the production without an audience, according to THR. The special will be filmed in February.
Kerry and her co-stars Steven Pasquale, Jeremy Jordan, and Eugene Lee will all appear in the the production, which will again be directed by Kenny Leon.
“American Son powerfully explores themes of family, love and identity,” said Cindy Holland, VP originals at Netflix. “We are honored to work with Kerry Washington, Kenny Leon, Christopher Demos-Brown and the entire cast to bring this story from the Broadway stage to our members around the world.”
