Two people were killed, yesterday, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital during a clash between men of the Nigerian Customs and smugglers .
Reports have it that the incident occurred when Customs men were pursuing a vehicle allegedly carrying smuggled cosmetics products into the city having evaded arrest.
According to sources, the driver of the vehicle was chased to Saw Mill area of the metropolis where firing of gun shots filled the area.
Two people were killed by strayed bullets fired by the men of the Customs, eyewitnesses say.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the death of one person, adding that the corpse had since been taken to a hospital morgue. Okasanmi, who said no arrest had been made on the incident, also said that normalcy had returned to the area.
