The Board of Trustees of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin , Ondo State , has approved the appointment of a new Vice -Chancellor, Prof. Olukayode Amund, on the recommendation of the university’ s Governing Council .
According to a statement by the university, Amund, 65, is the third substantive vice-chancellor of the school .
It said the new VC attended the University of Lagos , where he graduated with First Class honours in Microbiology in June , 1977. He proceeded to Cranfield Institute of Technology ( now Cranfield University) , United Kingdom for a PhD programme in Biotechnology and graduated in October , 1982.
Amund, the statement added , joined the services of the University of Lagos in 1978 as a graduate assistant and rose through the ranks to become a professor of Microbiology in 1998 with specialty in Petroleum/Environmental Microbiology.
He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Biology , United Kingdom, Institute of Policy Management Development and the African Academy of Science, Nairobi.
Until his appointment as the vice- chancellor of Elizade , Amund was the Director , Distance Learning Institute of the University of Lagos.
He has also held several administrative positions within the university system . He was the foundation vice -chancellor of Wesley University of Science and Technology , Ondo.
