Footballer Gerard Pique has taken to twitter to trick followers, announcing pop singer Shakira, had given birth to their first child.
“Our son is born! We are very happy! Thank you all for your messages!” he wrote on his Twitter page in Spanish. However most readers didn’t realize that Thursday’s post coincided with the Latin American version of April Fool’s Day, when people play jokes on each other.
Media outlets soon picked up the “news”, issuing false messages of the couple having a baby.
Having realized that he left the world confused Pique returned to the social network to say he was just fooling everyone.

“He has a name! His name is Innocent! Happy Innocents’ Day to all!”
Pique posted on his page later.
Colombian born pop diva Shakira confirmed she was pregnant in September. The star soon posted photographs showing obvious signs of pregnancy online, adding a sonogram.
