D’banj’s Koko Concert flops says fans; fans made to trek to the venue, others

Photo: D’banj’s Koko Concert flops says fans; fans made to trek to the venue, others It was a sad and unpleasant night for the hundreds of D’banj fans that made their way to his Koko Concert at Eko Atlantic City Lagos on Thursday night. The event had been hyped previously by D’banj and his management team and so it was a huge surprise to fans who attended when they encountered a disorganized and ill planned affair. On arrival at the Eko Atlantic entrance, fans had to trek many kilometers to the venue of the show in what proved to be a muddy, tiring and unpleasant walk. The rank and file had to make this trek including VVIPs who had to pay about N1 million per table. To make matters worse, on arriving the venue, the concert which was billed to kick off at 7pm ended up kicking off just before 10:30pm to lack lustre performances. The opening host, Idris Elba proved uninspiring to the crowd and acts like Pusha T could not relate to the Nigerian audience. Worse still D’banj gave what proved to be an unelectrifying performance causing fans to walk out of the venue en masse 40 minutes into his performance. Fans took their anger to twitter during and after the event with some calling it the worst event of their lives. Many were made to pay N20,000 for VIP seats and were utterly displeased by their experience. D’banj even asked those in the VIP and regular segments to apologise to those in the VVIP segment as the VVIP section was reportedly overburdened with guests complaining of discomfort and over booking. All in all, it was an ill planned event that left fans angry, tired and unsatisfied. We hope Koko Concert has a better outing next year.
