Tragedy struck on Christmas day as a doctor identified as David Oguntuase died in fire that razed his clinic, Universal Medical Clinic (Specialist Children Clinic) in Akure, Ondo state.
According to report, the fire started at about 12.30a.m and neighbours around started mobilizing to quench the fire but all efforts proved futile as the gate to the clinic was locked.
No one knew the doctor was caught up in the inferno until later when efforts were efforts were being made to put out the fire that they realised he had died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Wole Ogodo said that the police had started an investigation into the cause of the fire.
