A new regent has been installed for Akure kingdom. She is Princess Adetutu Adesida, the first daughter of the late Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida who joined his ancestors on Sunday 1st December 2013, after three years on the throne.
Princess Adesida was installed on Saturday evening and has since, been receiving Akure traditional Chiefs and prominent persons on homage to the palace.
She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy, from Texas Southern University, Houston and she is a licensed Pharmacist based in the United States of America.
The new Regent while speaking with newsmen in Akure on Sunday, said “though my father, Oba Adebiyi Adesida’s reign was very short, he had a good impact on Akure, by God’s grace I’m going to pick the baton from where he has left and finish the legacy he left behind.”
Princess Adesida also appealed to the Chiefs to extend to her the kind of support and cooperation her father enjoyed during his short but meaningful reign.
She said “I know when my father, Oba Adebiyi Adesida was on the throne, they worked with him hand in hand, there was a lot of cooperation from the Chiefs, and he was able to make a lot of impact within that short period of his reign and brought a lot of recognition to Akure town.
“My plea to them is that they should continue in that manner, in that way we can work together to continue to build up Akure people and the town, and I believe By God’s grace we are going to work together.” Adesida said
She also called on the people “to continue with the love that has existed among Akure people in order to further advance the town.”
Princess Adesida will continue to act as the paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, until a new Deji is appointed
