The coaching crew of the Nigerian under-20 women football team on Thursday in Abuja decamped five players based on their inability to pass fitness test.

The coaching crew led by Peter Dedevbo also decamped one other player due to her failure to report to camp on the expected date.

A statement by the team’s Media Officer, Elizabeth Kah, said the players were decamped for not meeting up to expectations.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team is in camp for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada later this year.

The players are Sidi Ajibola (FC Robo, Lagos), Lilian Tula (Taraba Queens), David Florence (Tewo Queens, Oyo State), Uchegbo Chidinma (Yaba Queens, Lagos), and Ayomide Ojo (Police, Lagos).

The sixth player is Fasilat Adeyemo who was decamped for her failure to report three weeks after camp resumed.

Speaking on the players, Dedevbo said “the players have not been able to endure the rigorous training and only players who are fit will make the final list’’.

The team will leave for Ondo State on Monday, May 26 for a friendly match with the Sunshine Queens of Akure on Wednesday, May 28.
