Nigerian heavyweight boxing champion, Bash Ali who was remanded in Kuje prison over row with Nigerian Export- Import Bank (NEXIM) last month for disturbing the peace of the bank and threatening to blow up the bank and deal with its staff has been training Boko Haram and Armed Robbery suspects in Kuje prison, Abuja.

An sms message sent out from Kuje prison reads

“Boko Haram, armed robbers, etc have all agreed to forget about gun and bombs to embrace boxing, I hope FG will give them the opportunity to excel in that which corruption denied me. I have been in Kuje Prison since 19 February and have been teaching them boxing as a way of making a livelihood when they leave prison. I train them at 9a.m and 3p.m.”

Bash Ali was granted bail on February, 19 and March, 4, 2015 but he insisted that he will stay in the prison till the next hearing on April 2, 2015.
