For much of the summer Arsenal have been linked with Ivory Coast right back Serge Aurier.

The Ivorian was seen as the likely replacement for the departed Bacary Sagna, who has joined Manchester City on a free transfer.

But, in recent days, it has emerged that Arsenal are likely to sign Newcastle and France right back Mathieu Debuchy.

On Wednesday, the Daily Star, a newspaper that has traditionally had close links to Arsenal, announce that Debuchy to the Emirates is a done deal.

(Former Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood often used to speak to the Daily Star and reveal news about the north London side.)

A fee of 12 million pounds has been agreed between Arsenal and Newcastle with the deal set to be announced after France’s participation in the World Cup is over.

Arsenal have 100 million pounds to spend this summer and Gooners will be expecting plenty more cash to be spent after Debuchy is confirmed.

Serge Aurier, meanwhile, has most recently been linked with a move to Ligue 1 champions PSG
